To demonstrate to educators what challenges students tackle when reading long passages of Latin, Kelly provides a poem in Russian and encourages educators to use textual cues to decipher as much as they can about the text without actually translating it.

Bishop provides brief but thorough explanations of ancient Egypt's culture and landscape, including Egyptian temples, tombs, pyramids, hieroglyphics, and even the nine stages of mummification. In addition, Bishop presents nine lesson plan ideas for use by educators at the primary and secondary school levels.
