of Speech Exercises
These exercises test students' knowledge of literary figures of speech. One of the exercises tests students' knowledge of rhetorical figures of speech, like metaphor and hyperbole, and the other tests their knowledge of syntactical figures of speech, like alliteration and onomatopoeia. The second part of each exercise requires students to translate lines from Vergil's Aeneid and match each figure of speech to the line of Latin text in which the literary technique is applied. Answer to the exercises are provided.
