Unearthing the Lost City of ABurbe-Suburbe
by Pat Dipillo and Priscilla Kotyk, Acton-Boxborough Regional High School

This high school level lesson was developed as part of the curriculum in a Latin 2H class in order to provide independent work for students who elect to work for honors credit. It also fulfills a requirement to integrate technology into the curriculum as mandated by the states frameworks.

Students play the roles of an architect, a mythologist, a political scientist and an anthropologist to expose the secrets of the fictitious ancient city of ABurbe-Suburbe. To accomplish their ultimate goal of creating a miniature model of the ancient city and composing a history of its founding, students gather information from the Internet, videos and print resources.

Join them on their quest! Don't forget to see the Architect field trip.
