![]() The Forum was the heart of the ancient Roman city. In it were the main elements of daily Roman life, such as the market and the temples. The basilicae were interesting in that they served a dual purpose; they were both houses of worship and the treasury for the city. Very often, Romans going to the market in the Forum would meet and talk of the day's events. The Forum in Rome was particularly important because it contained the Senate, where the fate of the Roman Republic was decided. |
