Note:
There are many different ways to go back to web pages you have
viewed using various browser menus and buttons. One method is
suggested in this exercise but please use the method with which
you are most comfortable.
1. Open your browser and go
to the Perseus web site, http://www.perseus.tufts.edu.
2. Go to the Search box, type
in "Athena" and hit return.
3. Click on the "English
Index," which is the top choice on the left-hand side.
4. Type "Athena" into
the Search box in the middle of the screen and click on the Search
button.
5. When the search results appear,
scroll to the bottom of the page.
How many entries are listed
for "Athena"? _____
6. Go back to the top of the
page and in the area labeled "Search," narrow you search
by selecting "Homer" under the menu next to "Search."
Then click on the "Search" button.

Why doesn't
Perseus list the occurrences of "Athena" in Homer's
Iliad? In the
Iliad translation on the Perseus web site, "Athena"
is written as "Athene", an acceptable alternative spelling.

7. From the "Go" menu
in Netscape or from the "File" Menu in Internet Explorer,
select "Perseus Lookup Tool" to return to the Perseus
Lookup Tool search for "Athena."
8. Click on the arrow next to
the "Perseus Encyclopedia entries."
