1. Open your browser and go to the Perseus web site, http://www.perseus.tufts.edu.

2. Click on the "Texts" button on the home page.

3. Click on the "Ancient Greek Texts" icon.

4. How many Greek authors are represented?

5. In the list of authors, click on "Homer."

What texts are listed under Homer? _____________________________

6. Click on "Odyssey."

Does the text look like the Greek alphabet that you have already seen? ____

7. From the "Version" menu, choose "English Loeb" and click on the "Change now" button.

8. Click on "Poseidon" in line 20.

9. Click on the arrow next to "Vases."

10. Click on the vase name of the second Louvre vase.

What shape of vase is this? _________________

11. Click on "Images" at the top of the page to view a list of images for this vase and then click on the image archive number of a scene depicting Poseidon.

12. From the "Go" menu in Netscape or from the "File" Menu in Internet Explorer, select "Perseus Lookup Tool" to return to the search for "Poseidon."

13. Under "Perseus Encyclopedia entries," click on "Poseidon."
