Helen is Every Woman
Through the ages, the desire of every woman has been for the poets to sing about her, the way the poets sang about Helen of Troy. Today, as for centuries, every woman wants testimony to her influence as a woman. She wants a record of the power of her aura and her flair for inflaming emotions, especially during those fleeting years when nature conspires to make her both conspicuous and capricious. She wants a record of the unbridled ardor of her suitors and the monumental frustration of her rivals. She wants a written measure of the tremors she stirred in her world when she was in her prime. Every woman wants to be a legend, like Helen of Troy; and everyman wants to believe that he could win such a woman, even at the risk of all, particularly in combat. Thus, Helen’s story is the story of every woman…and every man. This is why the legend of Helen of Troy endures.
