Construct a model of an Egyptian
burial chamber. The burial chamber should include wall paintings,
the sarcophagus with coffin in it, canopic jars, and items this
Egyptian will need in the afterlife.
Use a shoebox opening from the
top as the burial chamber. The bottom of the shoebox will be
the floor of the burial chamber. The wall paintings will be easier
to draw and color if you carefully measure paper to fit the sides
and glue it in after the "paintings" are done.
The sarcophagus should be constructed
to resemble a real one and the coffin must be "painted"
to resemble the Egyptian being buried. The canopic jars must
be proportional to the sarcophagus. You must also include at
least 5 items that will be needed in the afterlife.
The outside of the shoebox should
be covered with paper or colored so that it does not look like
a shoebox. It may look like stone or other suitable material.
The written part of your project
will be glued into the lid of the shoebox. You must include the
following information:
- Who is buried in this chamber--give
your person an Egyptian name.
- At least 5 sentences explaining
this person's role in life--job, position, family, etc.
- An explanation of the scenes
on the walls and the items in the tomb.
