A) Most columns found were Corinthian or Roman Ionic, probably due to the fact that these varieties are more ornate and make more impressive grave markers.
B) Decoration of these columns capitals varied widely. Floral decorations were seen incorporated into Corinthian capitals and smoother, more contemporary designs were sometimes substituted for the original detail of Roman carving.
C) There were also instances in the cemetery where three dimensional, traditional column designs had been represented in two dimensions through designs carved into the flat slabs of the walls of tombs.
D) Smooth pillars were the most common, although the occasional column with fluting could be found. This was probably due to the fact that the smooth form of an unfluted pillar is more modern looking.
