What I Know

Ever since I saw a movie on gladiators, in 5th grade, they have fascinated me. Their unique fighting style, cool costumes and the history behind them.

I have acquired such an interest in gladiators. I have wanted to know how gladiators lived and how it all began. I never understood why these people would risk their lives for no reward, other than the cry of their weaker opponent, as they slice a sword blade through that opponent’s chest. That just never seemed to me like a reward, when you know that you could find yourself in the same predicament against another opponent.

I know that I would never want to fight or actually be a gladiator myself, but the history behind it all, interested me enough to find out more about these “men in armor”.
