Consequences of Failure to Solve Problems Faced by New Teachers
Beginning teachers do not have the resources to draw upon that veterans have learned through trial, error and Wheelock. They have problems with transition, attention span and authentic assessments. When an instructional strategy fails, they have little or no skills for problem solving. Their inexperience results in frustration, and they leave the profession before they have time to truly learn how to teach. This is costly to students, who face a revolving door of inexperienced teachers, and to administrators and veterans who spend valuable time on teachers who do not stay long enough to repay their investment.
